As a rule, we must assume that people are lost until some fruits of salvation can be seen (II Car. 5:17). Do not be deceived by those Catholics who mouth the 'plan of salvation' or appear to be 'spiritual'. ASK if they believe a person must be baptised in order to be saved. A Catholic will say 'yes', a Biblical Christian will say 'no' (Eph. 2:8-9). ASK if they still pray the rosary (repetitious prayers to Mary). It they do, they do not understand that Jesus is the ONLY mediator (I Tim. 2:5 & Cot. 1:18). ASK if they still go to confession believing their sins are forgiven through the priest. If so, they do not have assurance of Christ's forgiveness for all their sins (I John 2:1-2). ASK it they still go to communion --if they believe that the mass is a true sacrifice. If they do, they do not understand that the sacrifice of Christ was "once for all" (Complete ) (Hebrews 7-10).

Biblically, no one is saved who holds to ANY of these beliefs. One cannot be saved if their salvation is dependent upon baptism. One cannot be saved if Christ is not trusted as the only mediator. One cannot be saved unless his forgiveness is through Christ alone. One cannot be saved unless he believes Christ paid the full payment for sin (completed His substitutionary sacrifice).
